Terms and Conditions

Last updated: July 2026

Welcome to The Writer's Block. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of our website and the tutoring services we provide. By using our website, booking a session, or enrolling a student, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Our Services

The Writer's Block provides tutoring and educational support for students from kindergarten through college preparation, both in person at our Houston location and online. Our services include private tutoring, small group tutoring, reading and writing support, test preparation, and related programs. We offer a free pre-assessment to help us understand each student's needs before sessions begin.

2. Booking, Scheduling, and Payment

Sessions are booked and managed through our scheduling and billing partner, TutorBird. Rates for our services are listed on our website and are subject to change. Payment is due at the time of booking unless another arrangement is made. When you book a session, you authorize the applicable charges for that session.

3. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Refunds

We understand that schedules change. Cancellations and rescheduling are subject to the cancellation policy provided at the time of booking. Please give as much notice as possible so we can offer the time to another family. Refunds, where they apply, are handled according to that policy.

4. No Guarantee of Results

Our tutors are experienced educators who are committed to helping every student build skills and confidence. Learning outcomes depend on many factors, including a student's effort, attendance, and individual circumstances. The Writer's Block does not guarantee any specific grade, test score, academic result, or admission outcome.

5. Parent and Guardian Responsibilities

Services for students under the age of 18 require the consent of a parent or legal guardian. If you book on behalf of a minor, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian or that you have permission to do so, and you accept these Terms on the student's behalf. Parents and guardians are responsible for providing accurate information and for their student's conduct during sessions.

6. Student Conduct

We are committed to a respectful and supportive learning environment. Students and families are expected to treat our tutors, staff, and other students with courtesy. We reserve the right to decline or discontinue service in cases of disruptive, unsafe, or inappropriate behavior.

7. Accommodations and Learning Differences

We welcome students with a range of learning needs, and we are glad to set appropriate accommodations. We are not a medical, diagnostic, or clinical provider, and our services do not replace evaluation or treatment by a licensed professional.
